The yellow is used solely on the buildings of Culross Palace. The town was an important place in the middle ages, situated between Dunfermline, one of the ancient capitals of Scotland, and Stirling (another ancient capital), hence the palace. The other house colours are actually reasonably common in small Scottish towns.
